IMA Annual Meeting Announces New Directors and Agenda for 2010

The annual membership meeting was held at the 67th Annual World Magnesium Conference. Greg Patzer opened the meeting with a review of the Treasurer’s report.
The organization followed by the announcement of two conferences to be held in the fall, the IMA Mg Applications Seminar – Europe, scheduled for October 7 of this year in Munich at the Holiday Inn Munich – City Center and the IMA Mg Applications Seminar – North America, scheduled for October 28 at Laurel Manor in Livonia, Michigan, USA. These two events will offer participants the chance to address a wide range of magnesium applications including medical, sporting goods, tools, 3c, automotive and more. More details on registration will be provided shortly.
The IMA is getting more involved in other industry conferences. The IMA participated in TMS in Seattle this year and plan on being more involved with CMA, NADCA and other metallurgical and industrial events and organizations.
The IMA will also take a more active part in the Sunset Review process at the US International Trade Commission to represent the interests of Chinese parties, producers and die-cast members to remove onerous duties on Chinese and Russian magnesium.
The election of officers results in the following: Karl Kainer of GKSS and Mike Slovich of Garfield alloys were elected as Vice Presidents. Board of Directors, terms to end in 2013, include Doug Taylor, Paul Uguccioni, Karl Kainer, Ronald Chang and Cam Tissington.
