Tie Gear Introduces Portable Tie changer
2009-05-18
TieGear™ International introduces the TC-2000 portable tie changer. A new hand tool designed to keep the right of way open while safely and efficiently replacing railroad ties. The TC-2000 offers a safe, simplified approach to manual tie replacement and eliminates need for a backhoe on small jobs, change out single ties quickly and easily with only a one or two-person crew.
The TC-2000 weighs approximately 45 pounds and clamps to the bottom flange of the rail. Cables are then threaded under the rail and hooked to the back of the tie and a manual pumping action is used to extract the tie. The cables can then be reversed and the new tie is easily pumped back under the rail.
The TC-2000 is insulated to prevent shunting of the track. The 22” x 12” x 8” unit disassembles into three pieces designed for easy transport by one person. It is constructed of steel, aluminum magnesium, Grade 8 bolts and other non-rusting materials. The TC-2000 comes complete with nylon straps and canvas carrying bag.
Testimonials "The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad purchased the TC-2000 because we always want to provide the safest and very best equipment for our crews. This
45 lb tie-changer is easier, safer and faster for doing spot tie replacement; it has already paid for itself. It is of particular value to our welding crews who often have to move ties to perform welding duties. This is a safe piece of equipment." - R. A. Kollmar, Assistant Chief Engineer, New Orleans Public Belt Railroad
"Using the portable light weight TC-2000 two to three times a week, my crews are able to change more ties in more places.” - Dennis Giacoletti, General Manager, AZER Railroad
