Nanostructured Magnesium Hydroxide Plant in Volgograd Approved by Rusnanotech

RUSNANOTECH will partially fund a development project for Nikochem Group called “Organization of Nano-structured Surface Modified Magnesium Hydroxide Production”. RUSNANOTECH will provide credit financing for the project. The total budget of the project is 3.1 billion rubles. Share of RUSNANOTECH is authorized capital contribution in the amount of 167 million rubles and granting the project a loan of not more than 1.11 billion rubles totally. Kaustik, will be the site of the economically efficient nanostructured magnesium hydroxide production complex in Volgograd. Rusnanotech expects the facility to have a production capacity of 25,000 tpy.
Construction will commence in the first quarter of 2010. Start-up of the pilot plant and the entire complex ramp-up are planned to be at third quarter of 2011 and 2013 accordingly. As a result of this project, “NIKOCHEM” Group shall join a number of Global leading producers of highly efficient halogen-free flame-retardants.
Dmitry Kuzmenko, head of Business Development Department of Nikochem LLC noted, “Nanostructured magnesium hydroxide production technology was developed by Nikochem Company and realized both in laboratory and pilot scales. Polymer compounds produced with nanostructured magnesium hydroxide addition were tested in cooperation with leading Russian compounders and profile institutes like FGUP VNIIPO. We performed an entire complex of certification trials. Responses given by the customers allow us to ascertain doubtless advantages of nanostructured magnesium hydroxide comparing to imported analogues available. As a result, Nikochem concluded several long-term sales contracts with the biggest global and Russian compounders and traders during designing stage already. To be underlined that our main competitive advantage is the organizing of bilateral bond between newest scientific developments and requirements of the customers. This is what allows us to react flexibly even smallest fluctuations of current trends of flame retardant global market and to adjust the product properties accordingly.”
